Proof not rhetoric

Tikamoon donates 1% of its turnover on all FSC®-certified products to 1% for the Planet® accredited associations.

1. At Tikamoon, we believe that action is urgently needed

Global restrictions, including those relating to climate change and biodiversity loss, define ecological limits that must not be exceeded. Unfortunately, many of such limits have been crossed or are under threat. Action is urgently required.

Exceeding these limits threatens the fragile balance of our planet.

At Tikamoon, we've been convinced of this for years, which is why we've implemented such measures as reducing the quantity of raw materials used in our furniture, reducing the carbon footprint of our transport and increasing our range of FSC®-certified products.

To avoid dire consequences, it's essential that we adopt environmentally friendly practices, promote the conservation of ecosystems and rethink our consumption patterns. Our commitment is also reflected in the design of our furniture, ensuring it will last for 100 years, and the choice of solid wood for optimum repairability, which means you can "buy less often".

We're not perfect, but we're doing everything we can to achieve these goals and working to preserve a healthier planet for current and future generations.

More than 55% of our solid wood furniture is FSC®-certified.

2. Tikagreen: our sustainable development strategy

At Tikamoon, we're convinced that we, as a company, have a role to play. The future of the planet depends on our collective ability to take action. In 2021, we took part in the Convention des Entreprises pour le Climat (Businesses for Climate Convention), a major step towards regenerative business.

In line with Tikagreen, our sustainable development strategy, we're implementing various projects and initiatives to reduce the impact of our business on the environment.

We're continuing to develop this strategy, launched in 2019, year on year, in light of the various challenges we face. Transparency for our customers is a crucial element of this strategy. We want to support our customers and explain our values and actions to them. This involves publishing the results of our Product Life Cycle Analyses and the eco-note, an in-house rating system based on six criteria, designed to enable our customers to compare and choose products with a clear conscience.
With our support of 1% for the Planet® on our range of FSC®-certified products, we're adding a seventh criterion to the four-leaf eco-ratings by showing that 1% of our turnover linked to this product is donated to a forest conservation and restoration project.

3. Fulfilling our commitments and being part of a collective that plays an active role in protecting the environment

In addition to these actions, we've long been committed to donating our products rather than destroying them, whenever possible. For example, we've developed a partnership with the Banque Solidaire de L'Equipement, which has been run by Emmaus Défi for many years.

We also make financial donations to organisations like the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), as part of our membership of the Club Entreprendre pour la Planète. We support a number of WWF projects.

That's why, in keeping with our various initiatives, from 1 April 2024, we're committed to donating 1% of our sales of FSC®-certified products to environmental protection and restoration projects. In line with our value chain, we'll be supporting projects involved in protecting and restoring forest ecosystems.

We're proud to support the values upheld by 1% for the Planet® and the committed group of companies and individuals that compromise it.

This commitment illustrates our vision: "proof not rhetoric". Join 1% for the Planet® to play an active part in the change needed for a more sustainable future.

4. What is 1% for the Planet® ?

1% for the Planet® is a non-profit organisation launched in 2002 in the United States by Yvon Chouinard, founder and owner of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, former owner of Blue Ribbon Flies.

The mission of 1% for the Planet® is to increase environmental philanthropy and the impact of actions undertaken by environmental protection organisations by making it easier for them to raise funds.

By embracing the 1% for the Planet® philosophy, the members of this unique alliance are actively helping to build a more sustainable future. Each participant becomes an agent of change, demonstrating tangible social and environmental responsibility. The funds raised are allocated to a wide range of causes, from the conservation of natural ecosystems to the promotion of renewable energy.
