Chapter 11: A playroom

The house is taking shape and we’re starting to get things the way we want them. Renovation is a bit of a roller-coaster ride, full of emotional highs and lows. We’re enjoying this new project, but at same time we’re worried too. By the time we start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, we’re so exhausted that, personally, I find it hard to enjoy the finished spaces right away. I think it really is a kind of ongoing process.

After the building work, interior design is an important step… and the way the functions of each room are distributed too.

Today, I’m going to show you the future playroom and the future TV room. I say future because, as of today, the room is still in its original condition. It hasn’t been converted yet.

The work on this room will start in the spring, with a complete makeover, some lovely fresh paint and a new floor. For now we’re still making use of the room, which is ultracosy, with the wood-burning stove and traditional French beams… The children feel comfortable in it and spend hours playing around in there.
